Our server Maureen rang up our check using one of our previously purchased $25 gift cards but neglected to *** the coupon (Buy one get one free breakfast entree) which we told her about but she grabbed the check and the gift card and hurredly processed it for $24.07 leaving $0.93 on our gift card. When she returned to our table and my wife and I reminded her she forgot to *** the coupon ($8.59 + tax) and she said there was nothing she could do.

When I asked to speak to the manager on duty, Ms. Christina Anicet, she also told me there was nothing she could do because the check was closed out. When I asked if she could credit my credit card or at least give me another $5 "substitute" Bonus Card (a Friendly's business card with "$5 Bonus Card" written on the back) like the 2 we received when we arrived at Friendly's that day and purchased two additional $25 Gift Cards. To my amazement, she wouldn't even give me a "make-shift" $5 Bonus Card for me being shorted $8.59 + tax because they processed the check without my coupon.

When I offered again to settle for only $5 of value, she said she couldn't do that because "it would screw up their books" and I would have to speak to her mgr Tatum or the GM Jose Yumpo, but there was nothing she could do and then went to hide in the back of the store. Another young female employee making an ice cream cone nearby said I should leave before they called the cops. As a long time friendly's customer, I was flabbergasted that they would think to call the cops rather than just settle the matter and let me be on my way, let alone have some "teeny bopper" employee say that to me! Obviously this manager did not know how to deal with this because the computer system would not allow her to re-open the check and refused my 2 suggestions on how to settle the matter and offered none of her own.

An experienced manager would have found a way to settle the matter without making the matter worse. I guess she and the staff of this Friendly's in Hicksville, NY never heard of the time honored axiom, "The Customer is Always Right!"

In the mean time take the coupon and use it as a tampoon because you're clearly having your period. :grin
